20 days and counting

Only 20 days before Greg and I are declared man & wife in front of you wonderful people coming to witness and celebrate. So exciting! Sorry for the silence on our ends. Greg just finished shooting his latest feature film Searching for Sonny, and I graduated from school only 2 weeks ago and am trying to help run Birchbox, the company I cofounded. We would be lost without the help of our loving family who are working hard to make this all happen.

So, I am sure some of you are wondering how this will all go down. On the evening of July 3rd, we will be married in a church (that is close to the hotels) and then the reception is at the beach! The great news is that there will be a shuttle, for those of you interested, from the hotels to the church and then to the reception. I need to know where you are staying so we can be sure to have information about everything waiting for you at your hotel. Please fill out this form and let me know. If you aren’t staying at one of the four hotels, or don’t fill out the form in time, we will leave information under your name for you at the Aquila Hotel.

I will post more info about the day of and surrounding days soon!

Book your hotel! Email Mr. Huber

Hello Again,

In the last post, you see the hotel options that we have put together for our wedding. We are working with a travel agent located in Europe, Mr. Huber, to book ours and our family's accommodations. Booking from Europe has its advantages and he is happy to help you too! Check out the options below and email Mr. Huber to book.

In your email, mention that you are booking for our wedding.

Hotels & Car Rentals!

Happy Holidays to everyone! Finally, some time to refocus on our exciting wedding adventure.

Below is a list of the hotel options that our wedding coordinator recommended. We asked her to provide us with a range, and she included the nicest options in each category. The hotels are all close to one another, so it won’t be hard to coordinate meeting at one hotel to spend a day at the beach. Greg and I will be at the Hotel Aquila after we say “I do”.

***Seafront Apartments in Adelianos Campos

***Hotel Golden Beach

**** Hotel Adele Mare

***** Hotel Aquila Rithymna Beach

We suggest that you plan to arrive by the 1st of July so that you have a day to relax.

For car rentals the best idea would be to coordinate with other guests. Getting around town will mostly be on foot, but we will use cars to explore Crete together during the days after the wedding. So planning in groups of 4 would be ideal. If you want to book early, I did some exploring and The Best Rent a Car has the best offer right now. Be sure to click the booking early box in “step 2” in order to get an additional discount.

Greg and I are planning on staying in Crete with you all through July 7th and we will follow up with a schedule of activities for those subsequent days.

Planning, Planning, Planning.

Hopefully you are visiting our blog because you received our save the date in the mail. If you are planning on coming, and we hope all of you are, you can start your travel search. If you go to the "Getting Started" post, you'll see some options on getting to Crete. Airfare should be booked into Heraklion (Crete) or to Athens if you'd like to take the Ferry to Crete.

We won't know the exact venue until the Spring, but early planning leads us to believe that we'll be getting married near the town of Rethymnon. We'll have hotel information early next year.

But the most important thing right now is to BOOK YOUR AIRFARE!

Look forward to seeing you in Crete!

Getting started

Hey Everyone!

Our plans are starting to materialize for our dream wedding in Greece and we want to keep all of you up to date early and often! Our blog will be the best place to learn about all the details of our wedding as they become available. If you want instant updates, you can subscribe to the blog.

To date, we know that it will be July 3rd, 2010 in Greece on the island of Crete. Details about the exact venue, hotels and apartments near by and other events around the day will be up soon.

If you want to start thinking about planning your voyage, we do have a few suggestions/options for getting to Crete. There are several options, but I have distilled it down to the two most popular. Option 1, by air: You can fly directly to Crete from several european cities to the airport in Heraklion. Option 2, by sea: You can fly into Athens, spend a day (you will not want more than that) seeing the sites and then take a "Ferry" to Crete. The Ferries are very large boats and they are usually scheduled to be overnight travel where you leave around 8pm and arrive in the morning. The two major Ferry lines from Athens (the port is called Piraeus) are Anek lines and Minoan Lines. No need to book tickets on the Ferries right away. I have never had a problem purchasing a day (or an hour) in advance and the Ferries arrive to several of the cities in Crete so you should wait to find out the most convenient drop off point.

Talk to you all soon. More information to come...

Katia
